Hello Friends,
We are pleased to announce the Resilience and Renewal Tour produced by the Bronzeville Historical Society and Field Museum. Training sessions and tours will highlight the African American story in and around Beaubien Woods including freedom-seeker waterway travel, civic action in Altgeld Gardens, the Calumet Region’s natural assets, and the connections between these assets and people’s lives. Dr. Christopher Reed and Mrs. Glennette Tilley Turner will provide trainees the historical framework of Chicago during the era 1840-1980.
Attached are the descriptions of the portrayal and tour guide (docent) roles.
Greeter/tour assistants are also needed at posts along the travel route. If you are interested in any one of these positions, please reply by December 10th to Bronzevillehistoricalsociety@gmail.com.
Be sure to indicate the position you would like to apply for.
Stipends are available for docents to help cover transportation and garment costs. Successful applicants will receive notifications by e-mail and telephone calls.
A calendar of the training and tour dates are set for Feb – June 2014.
